We want our members to succeed in being healthy in mind, body, and soul.

Our members say yes to healthy snacks, participate in sports, explore cooking, and discuss the importance of healthy, balanced relationships on their way to become successful, self-sufficient adults. Learn more about our current Health and Wellness Programs below:

Triple Play

Triple Play is a wellness program that emphasizes three key components of healthy living: Mind, Body, and Soul. The “Body” component of Triple Play promotes becoming more physically active through a variety of games, cooperative activities, and sports that develop a young person’s ability, confidence and motivation to be physically fit. The “Mind” component uses practical interactive activities to instill healthy eating habits. Lastly, the “Soul” component of Triple Play implements cooperative, group-based activities that develop confidence, connection to others, and the ability to make healthy choices.

Social Emotional Wellness

This multi-facet program, overseen by our Director of the Wellness Center + Social Support Services, offers social and emotional curriculums and on-site Social Work interns, from programs like USC and UCLA, to ensure the overall wellbeing of the youth and families of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cathedral City. This program also incorporates the Wellness Co-Operative consisting of a dedicated group of volunteers, all professionals in the backgrounds of counseling, psychiatry, and life coaching who are providing wellness services to Cathedral City youth which include one-on-one counseling and support groups.

SMART Moves/Girls (Skills Mastery And Reliance Training)

SMART Moves is a targeted program designed to help young people develop healthy decision-making attitudes and skills. The Boys & Girls Club of Cathedral City SMART Moves programs and resources are developmentally appropriate and meets all age groups. SMART is an acronym for Skills Mastery and Resilience Training. Young people ages 6 to 18 engage in discussion and role-playing, practicing resilience and refusal skills, strengthening decision-making skills and analyzing media and peer influence. The ultimate goal is to promote abstinence from substance abuse and adolescent sexual involvement through the practice of responsible behavior.

Garden Club

At the Boys & Girls Club of Cathedral City, members and parents learn gardening techniques, healthy eating, how to protect Mother Nature, and plant fruits and vegetables American Express Intergenerational Garden. Members also have the opportunity to enjoy a healthy snack from the garden such as strawberries and kale. Moreover, the Gardening Club exposes participants to careers in botany and culinary arts. The goal is to help teach youth to be responsible and capable citizens with greater self-expression, dignity, integrity and knowledge of their environment.

Child Safety FAQ’s

Mandatory criminal background checks are required every year for every staff and board member at the Boys & Girls Club of Cathedral City In addition, criminal background checks are required for any volunteer who has direct contact with children. 

Required Immediate Reporting2024-12-28T20:25:37+00:00

Boys & Girls Club of Cathedral City staff and volunteers have all mandated reporters. We are required to report any critical incident/safety concern to local authorities immediately. We are also required to report any critical incident to Boys & Girls Clubs of America within 24 hours.

Ongoing training and supervision of staff is critical. We participate in a wide variety of child safety training such as social, emotional, & physical well-being and emergency preparedness. We also engage leading third-party safety experts to provide guidance for our policies and approaches, including Praesidium, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, and the National Children’s Advocacy Center.

Boys & Girls Club of Cathedral City has comprehensive safety policies in place that protect youth – including, but not limited to, supervision, transportation, communication and prohibiting private one-on-one contact.

Boys & Girls Club of Cathedral City has a dedicated safety committee to provide input and guidance on local policies and safety strategies. Members of the committee are made up of the Palm Springs Unified School Board, Chief of the Cathedral City Fire Department and a Commander in the Cathedral City Police Department.

We complete a safety assessment each year to ensure we continually make improvements to safe practices at our Clubs.

Mandatory Employee Reference2024-12-28T20:27:54+00:00

Any employee interested in moving to another Boys & Girls Club is required to have a reference from the previous Club, even if the Clubs are within the same community.
